Hepato-Pancreatic-Biliary Surgery & Liver Transplant Surgery

The Department of Liver Transplantation and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery is the first such department in this part of the city. The team consists of surgeons highly skilled with impeccable credentials who are ably supported by anesthesiologists and intensivists trained in this field. Competent nursing and technical support team ensure optimum and uncompromising patient care.

The department specializes in the entire gamut of surgeries pertaining to diseases of the liver, pancreas and biliary tract. The surgical team is endowed with the skills necessary for both traditional open and modern laparoscopic surgery, with considerable experience in liver resections, operations for gallbladder & bile duct cancer, and surgical management of pancreatic diseases including pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. PSG Hospital is a tertiary level referral centre and hence, the department regularly and efficiently manages complicated cases.

The standards of excellence are based on a strong foundation, with state of the art infrastructure. The operating suites and intensive care units (Liver transplant ICU and Surgical ICU) are ultra modern and equipped with the latest gadgetry. Rigorous quality control has ensured that technical success rates are comparable with other centres. However, at PSG Hospital, quality and excellence comes at a much lower cost to the patients.

Being an academic institute of repute, the department is working towards setting up a highly sought after post-doctoral degree course (MCh, Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery and Surgical Gastroenterology) in due course of time. There is already an ongoing DM Program in Medical Gastroenterology. The department has firmly set its sights on research activities and aims to establish itself at the forefront in this field. A healthy mix of clinical and academic activities ensures that every aspect of patient care remains evidence based. Further, the department has uncompromising ethical standards.
