PSG PACS/EMR

PACS project was started in 2007 with filmless radiology and surgery. Patients Digital images screened in the hospital are stored in an electronic format is PACS. The images are stored in PACS server in the EDP department. These are the 3 types of acquiring data from the workstations to the PACS server. We have DICOM compatible modalities, Non-DICOM modalities & Non-Imaging.

More than 25 Medical Imaging Equipments are connected with PACS from Various departments in Hospital. It allows a centralized and resilient handling and routing of received images around the hospital. Hospital-wide PACS has already improved the speed and quality of patient care by providing instant access to diagnostic information at multiple locations simultaneously.

PACS is interfaced with the HIS, to make the clinician available with the patient’s image and the data. The images are stored in the SAN storage when the server storage capacity is 8TB (Highest Asian PACS Storage).

Backup is taken on daily basis. This also has a DR site located in PSG College of Technology; this site takes care when the primary server fails. A Secondary storage backup is taken on the DVD (Automatic through Robotic Machine) and is stored in a different location, and is used when the primary server fails.

For example Image information like X-rays, Ultrasound Scans, Angiogram, Lap surgery, Endoscopy, and text information like Investigation reports, notes written by doctors etc are converted in to electronic format and stored in the PACS server. Investigations done at different dates are automatically organized by date in the same electronic patient file.
