Forensic Medicine is the application of Medical knowledge pertaining to matters of law. Forensic medicine provides the required expertise to provide medico-legal certificates and concrete evidence in the court of law. Those who are involved in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology provide a vital service to the community in various capacities.

The Department aims to advance the discipline of Forensic Medicine and its associated branches both in terms of its training and development. The course aims to develop academic standards in clinical forensic medical practice besides developing the knowledge and skills required to provide a clinical forensic service.

The Department is home to a museum that has interesting specimens, photographs, etc. Besides this there is a lecture hall, a demo hall and provision for a research lab. Plans to start a are on the anvil.
